] Trent Reznor talks about his Record Label.
"I've have one record left that I owe a major label, then I will never be seen in a situation like this again. If I could do what I want right now, I would put out my next album, you could download it from my site at as high a bit-rate as you want, pay $4 through PayPal. Come see the show and buy a T-shirt if you like it. I would put out a nicely packaged merchandise piece, if you want to own a physical thing. And it would come out the day that it's done in the studio, not this "Let's wait three months" bulls---."
Great interview. Its sad to think his new album is selling poorly because it really is great.

] I love the new Nine Inch Nails album Year Zero.
Just sayin :)
Some currently looping favorites:
Me, I'm not
The Great Destroyer
The Warning
I can't get enough...
Very different than "With Teeth" but they are both excellent.
"You've become a virus
That's eaten up its host
We've been watching you with all our eyes
And what you seem to value most
"So much potential" or so we used to say
Your greed, self-importance and your arrogance
You piss it all away" - NIN - The Warning

] Antipiracy Code Spreads Wildly
"Rather than wiping out the code - a string of 32 digits and letters in a specialized counting system - the legal notices sparked its proliferation on Web sites, in chat rooms, inside cleverly doctored digital photographs and on user-submitted news sites like Digg.com.
'It's a perfect example of how a lawyer's involvement can turn a little story into a huge story,' said Fred von Lohmann, a staff lawyer at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights group. 'Now that they started sending threatening letters, the Internet has turned the number into the latest celebrity. It is now guaranteed eternal fame.'"
On an unrelated note, check out these cool shirts. |

] The Firefox memory fixes I posted the other day don't work. The minimize fix works to a small degree, but the memory usage shoots right back up. I'd like to think that the Firefox memory problems are more due to extensions and not just some blatant thing they won't fix. I won't be trading in Firefox but I'm getting tired of it being such a memory leech and cause for system slow down while I'm in crunch mode. Right now it's running at 224mb and I've got only two tabs running. I probably had more open this session, but it should have cleaned up after itself. |

"Google reached an agreement today to acquire DoubleClick, the online advertising company, from two private equity firms for $3.1 billion in cash, the companies announced, an amount that was almost double the $1.65 billion in stock that Google paid for YouTube late last year."
This is huge news imo... Huge. |

] Great review of 300
Mainly because the reviewer mentions the fact that someone in the production is a big stargate fan. Xerxes stands out as a proper Goa'uld. Complete with deep voice, god persona, ego, and apparently flashing eyes tho i missed that bit. When I talk about stargate I mostly refer to the tv series as it took the movie much much further. The reviewers mention of the actor who played Ra did strike a chord though. Id imagine it was some inspiration for xerxes.
Great movie. I want to see it again as soon as possible. It also made me ache for some world of warcraft pvp... oy... Ive been wow/pvp free for over a month or two...

] I just wanted to write something about two excellent movies I saw recently. I highly recommend them both.
Children of Men
Mind blowing movie. Very surreal feeling through out. There are some very impressive military scenes that you can imagine happen daily and yet cant imagine possibly being done by human beings. A few scenes of history you couldn't imagine possibly repeating itself... This is probably not worth mentioning but at some points I felt like I was watching a part of Half life 2. Its very stylistic and the soundtrack, audio and lack of audio are amazing.
Pan's Labyrinth This is a must see movie. I don't have the words to give this movie enough credit. I had only seen a movie poster on a bus for it, but it still stood out. The movie is in Spanish with subtitles and that only adds to its character and charm. |

] Just got the best laptop bag ever. Sling Pack by Incase.
It was a bit expensive, but completely worth it. It has a very small profile and tons of pockets. They say it can fit up to a 17inch laptop, but I'm using it for my 10 inch Sony. It fits snugly at the bottom of the laptop compartment horizontally, but also seems to rest nicely in the middle of the bag vertically.
Some how it feels snug with or without a coat. I didnt think it would fit over my bulky jacket but it does. It feels great across the back and even off one shoulder. I feel like I could run or even skate with it on without it flopping all over the place. Pretty rare for a one strap bag. The bag is canvas but the laptop compartment has a nice fur lining to protect your comp from scratches. The small strap compartment is also fur lined and can fit either my phone or my bulky old ipod.
Only drawback was that its only available via the apple store. Not so bad since you can use your itunes account. I guess its obvious why apple would support this and its very minimalist bag design. |

] Two plead not guilty to Boston hoax charges
Assistant Attorney General John Grossman called the light boards "bomb-like" devices and said that if they had been explosive they could have damaged transportation infrastructure in the city.
"It had a very sinister appearance," Coakley told reporters.
"It had a battery behind it, and wires."
This article is so damn funny. Possibly more amusing then their show which is pretty funny too. I'd just like to point out that if the boxes had been toasters they could have toasted bread. oh, if they had been rocket ships they could flown to the moon! oh, this is a fun game. Lets call the media and shut down the city.
The offending Mooninite
